Student surveys

Get students’ perspectives on critical experiences affecting their learning.

The survey focuses on three areas

Student Motivation
  • Are students confident they can learn what is being asked of them?
  • Are students engaged? Is their work important to them, worth putting effort into, interesting?
Teacher Supports
  • Do teachers communicate high expectations for students’ academic work and do students know what it takes to do well?
  • Do students have mutually trusting and respectful relationships with teachers?
  • Do students report teachers are making sure they master what is being taught?
Safety
  • Do students feel safe in school, in their classrooms, hallways, and bathrooms?

IRRE’s interactive survey reports show you

How many of your students are answering questions in ways that optimize their success or put them at risk

We present absolute quality standards that clearly define how good is good enough.

You will see the current status and progress of your school or district assessed against these standards.

1) Pick the dates to open and close survey access.

2) Securely upload a roster of students (grades 3-12).

3) Each student receives a code to access the online survey.

4) We present your findings, show you how to access results, and answer your questions.

Classroom visits

Results from our classroom visit protocol predict student performance. Use of its results contributes to more rigorous instruction and growth in student learning.

  • How engaged are students in their learning?
  • Is instruction aligned with relevant standards?
  • Do all students have supports to master rigorous content?

Data are collected during 20-minute classroom visits by trained educators. Results are available online immediately.

Teacher survey

Our teacher survey asks educators to report on key issues affecting their work and that district and building leaders can address.

What supports do teachers receive in three critical areas?

  • Access and use of data to improve student performance
  • Interventions for students most in need
  • Classroom visits and instructional coaching

What do teachers say about key system conditions affecting their work?

  • Are the school’s and district’s priorities clear, focused, mission-aligned and well- communicated?
  • Are sufficient time and resources committed to implementation?
  • Are credible data used to make important decisions?
  • Are educators involved in decisions affecting their work and accountable for outcomes of their work?

What do teachers say about their own engagement and confidence?

  • Do teachers look forward to going to work and enjoy what they’re doing?
  • Are teachers confident they can be successful?

Our reports show you how many of your teachers are getting the supports they need to put effective practices into place.
