IRRE and YDSI Help Boys & Girls Clubs of America:
Find Out What Makes a Difference
Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) want to know whether and how their work makes a difference. IRRE and our partner Youth Development Strategies, Inc. (YDSI) helped BGCA design a research-based survey for this purpose.
For the last three years, the survey has been administered annually to over 150,000 young people in 2,700 Clubs across the country.
Using principles taken from our Education Quality Information System (EQIS), BGCA can now know: whether youth are experiencing threshold-levels of supports while they are at the Club; and, how experience of these supports relates to important accomplishments such as healthy behaviors, character and citizenship, capacity to cope with challenges and engagement in school.
IRRE and YDSI are pleased to continue this partnership into 2017. Stay tuned for important results about BGCA’s effects on the lives of youth; and about what matters most for different groups of youth.
National Research Study Validates IRRE’s Measure of Instructional Quality
In June 2014, The High School Journal published a research article by independent researchers from the University of Rochester describing the validity and reliability of IRRE’s Engagement Alignment and Rigor Classroom Visit Protocol. Results from two separate studies of the measure in five school districts across four states confirmed the measure’s usefulness in assessing “vital signs” of classroom instruction contributing to student learning..
